RECITALS - Two public recitals are held each year.  All students are strongly encouraged to participate, and adult students are invited to participate.  Christmas recitals and Ensemble Recitals will be held on alternating years.  There is also a Spring Recital each year.  Recitals are held at Faith Community Church and friends and family are welcome to attend.

SE Minnesota Federation Music Club - SEMFMC holds a Festival each year in Rochester, MN.  Participants in the Festival are required to memorize two pieces and play them for a judge, who writes a critique of their performance.  Students do not compete against each other.  Scores are awarded upon a "musical" performance for the student's level.  The scores are accumulated each year, and when the student receives 15 points, he/she receives a gold cup with their name engraved.  This Festival is open to students from Pre-Primary through Musically Advanced.

MMTA Piano Exams - Minnesota Music Teacher's Association (MMTA) offers Piano Exams 4 times a year.  There are eleven levels in Piano Exams.  Each exam consists of playing memorized repertoire, keyboard skills and sight playing.  These exams are very comprehensive, and much dedication and preparation is required to complete each level.

MMTA Theory Exams - There are eight levels of MMTA Theory Exams.  These exams include writing scales, melodic and rhythmic dictation, aurally identifying melodic intervals, major and minor modes, phrase endings and transposition.  In the upper levels, the student identifies chords and musical form, as well as chord progressions, sight-reading and harmonization.  This Theory program is endorsed by 23 of Minnesota's leading universities and private colleges.

MMTA Contest - Participants in the Minnesota Music Teacher's Association contest are required to play one piece by memory, which is chosen from a list of repertoire according to the age of the student.  Contest preliminaries are held in Rochester around the end of January.  Approximately 25% are winners and go on to compete in the Finals, held in the Twin Cities.  The winners of the Finals play in the Honors Recital held at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
